Portugal joined GEBTA in 1994 and is currently formed by
18 IATA-approved Travel Agencies, operating under an Association
called "Elovia". There are 66 sales offices selling
mainly corporate travel and the combined business turnover
exceeded €.155.million in 2000 of which sales of scheduled
air transportation amounted to €.96.m.
Launched in 1999, Solférias, a wholly-owned tour operator,
plans sales of €.8.m. in 2001. GEBTA Portugal continues
to have an active participation in APAVT, the Portuguese Travel
Agents' Association.
