In november 1988 and as a result of a restructuring of the
ANVR, at the tome the national association for travel agencies
and touroperatorsin the Netherlands, an already strong group
of IATA agencies founded their own independent national Association
of ANVR Business Travel Agencies, the VLZ.
Today the VLZ comprises marketleaders as well as small independent
companies, more than 130 member IATA-agencies which in themselves
have a distribution netwerk in The Netherlands of hunderds
of branch offices. Together VLZ Members in 1999 generates
about 85% over BSP turnover (4 billion DFL: 1.8 billion ECU)
As a recognised market force in The Netherlands the VLZ represents
IATA-agencies in the Joint Council under IATA-resolution 814,
towards the government and towards partners in the travelindustry
such as. computer reservation systems, airlines, car rental
firms, hotel companies, railways and other suppliers of the
business travel product.
The VLZ advices and renders services to the members. On Amsterdam
Schiphol Airport the VLZ has an Ticket Delivery Office especially
for their members.
More than 30 airlines, car rental firms and hotel companies
are an assiociated member of the VLZ.
